Projects
I help teams build better products — and better ways of working together.
I'm drawn to messy, meaningful problems — the kind where design, operations, and people all need to come together. Whether it's scaling a team, launching a design system, or rethinking how millions of people interact with government services, I care most about the humans in the process.
Here's a look at some of the work I'm most proud of:
Esri
Design operations in the Creative Lab, helping teams across ArcGIS product lines — Pro, Online, Map Viewer, Instant Apps, and Indoors — build shared standards and smoother ways of working together.
Login.gov
I grew the design team from 4 to 24 people, expanded into 3 new markets, and rethought how millions of folks log in to government services. A big, meaningful challenge.
Department of Veterans Affairs API Platform
Built the human-centered design practice from scratch for the VA's API program. Led a remote crew of designers and researchers focused on making the platform genuinely useful for developers.
Zapier
I scaled the design team by 150% in 3 months, drove a full visual identity redesign, and shipped the company's first design system. It changed how the whole org approached product design.
U.S. Web Design System
Co-founded USWDS — a design system now used by hundreds of government websites serving millions of people. One of those rare projects where the work really matters.
Lightweight Django
I co-authored this O'Reilly book to show developers how to build modern web apps by pairing Django with client-side frameworks and real-time features. Still one of my proudest shipped things.
