About
Julia Solórzano serves as the Branch Chief of User Experience for Login.gov, the federal government’s single sign-on platform serving over 30 agency partners across more than 300 applications. With over two decades of experience in design and technology, she leads a team of 20 remote user experience practitioners while playing a crucial role in shaping the future of digital government services.
In her current position, Julia serves on General Service Administration’s AI Safety Team, working alongside the Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer to ensure the ethical implementation of AI across federal services. Her leadership has been instrumental in expanding Login.gov’s accessibility, including the successful launch of multilingual support in French, Spanish, and Chinese in 2024. Her contributions to government technology have earned her multiple recognitions, including the 2023 CyberScoop Innovation of the Year award and several GSA Special Act Awards.
Prior to her government service, Julia held key positions in both public and private sectors. At Ad Hoc, she led the UX team that built the first openly available API program at the Department of Veterans Affairs. At Zapier, as Director of Design, she grew the design team by 150% and launched the company’s first comprehensive visual identity system. As the technical lead and founder of the U.S. Web Design System at 18F has influenced over 100 federal and state agencies since its launch in 2015.
Julia is also an accomplished educator and author. She served as an adjunct faculty member at Georgetown University (2020-2023), where she developed an intensive program in digital program management. She co-authored “Lightweight Django” (O’Reilly Media) and has contributed to significant publications including the FIDO Security Key User Experience Guidelines (2022) and “Security is Everyone’s Responsibility: Delivering Secure, Usable Login for Government” (2021).
As a community leader, Julia founded Girl Develop It RDU, growing the chapter to over 2,000 members in just two years. She also founded Teen Tech Camp, securing funding to provide Raspberry Pi computers and education to young students. Throughout her career, she has worked with prominent organizations including Mozilla, the Python Software Foundation, University of Chicago, and Hallmark Cards, where her work on the (PRODUCT)RED website earned an AIGA Kansas City award for excellence in interaction design.
Currently, Julia continues to champion user-centered design and ethical technology implementation in government services, focusing on making digital experiences more accessible, secure, and inclusive for all users.
